Grant Criteria
Grant Application Criteria
We invite potential applicants to carefully review the following criteria before submitting a grant application. By law, our Trustees are bound by the Trust Deed to adhere to these guidelines when evaluating proposals. Unfortunately, applications that fail to meet the criteria cannot be considered.
- Grants are only awarded to organisations, not individuals.
- Grants are solely intended to benefit children and young people (CYP) under 25 years of age, often identified in their Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCP). They may include high-functioning individuals with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder ASD(C). Please note that ASD(C) is not considered the Trust’s key target group.
In addition, Trustees will consider early intervention and inclusion initiatives targeting young children with identified SEMH needs in primary schools and early years settings.
To ensure proper utilisation of funds and maximum impact, these additional conditions will apply:
- Grants must be allocated for educational or training purposes, or to facilitate access to such opportunities. This may encompass therapies, wellbeing programs, and nurturing environments including equipment.
- While acknowledging the labour-intensive nature of SEMH CYP work, Trustees favour funding equipment, infrastructure, or activities over salary subsidies.
- Grants may only be awarded for one year projects.
- Supported projects must be located in the South-East region, defined as Kent, East and West Sussex, Surrey, and Southeast London postcodes, allowing Trustees to conduct in-person visits.
- Grant amounts typically range from £2,000 to £7,000. Trustees convene twice annually, in March and October. Applications should be submitted by February 1st or September 1st to ensure consideration.
- Grant recipients are required to submit a written report (downloadable from the website) and financial records demonstrating the use of funds. A Trustee will make contact & likely visit the project during its implementation phase.
By adhering to these criteria and conditions, we can uphold our commitment to supporting organisations that provide crucial services and opportunities to children and young people facing SEMH challenges. If your application ticks all the bullet points then it will be forwarded to the Board of RHT Trustees for consideration.
